On June 20, 2026, a Moroccan expatriate (MRE) accidentally left €6,500 in a taxi in Casablanca. The driver, identified as 45-year-old Ahmed B., kept the money instead of reporting it.
According to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the victim filed a complaint after realizing the loss. Judicial police quickly identified the driver through taxi registration records and surveillance footage.
Ahmed B. was arrested on June 21 and confessed to keeping the money. He faces charges of breach of trust under Moroccan penal law, which carries a penalty of 1 to 5 years in prison and a fine.
The €6,500 was recovered and returned to the owner. The case has been referred to the public prosecutor's office in Casablanca.
