Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred is currently on trial in France, accused of raping a woman in a hotel near Saint-Tropez in 2024. The trial began on May 11, 2026, at the Draguignan criminal court, according to multiple French media reports.
The alleged incident occurred in July 2024 at a hotel in Saint-Tropez, where the woman, a French national, reported being sexually assaulted. Lamjarred, 40, has denied the allegations, with his lawyers arguing that the encounter was consensual.
This is not the first time Lamjarred has faced sexual assault allegations. He was previously convicted in France in 2020 for a 2016 assault in Paris and sentenced to six years in prison, though he appealed. He also faced a separate case in the United States in 2010, which was later dropped.
The trial is expected to last several days, with testimony from the accuser, witnesses, and experts. Lamjarred remains in custody pending the verdict.
