The Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM) has approved a budget of 5.49 million dirhams (approximately $550,000) to support 28 national and international film festivals in 2026. The decision was made during a meeting of the CCM's Board of Directors, chaired by Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid.
The funding is allocated to festivals across the country, including major events like the National Film Festival in Tangier, the International Documentary Film Festival in Khouribga (FIDADOC), and the Marrakech International Film Festival. The support aims to bolster the cultural and economic impact of these events, which are key platforms for promoting Moroccan and international cinema.
According to the CCM, the selection criteria for funding were based on the festivals' artistic programming, organizational capacity, and their contribution to the development of the national film industry. This annual financial support is a standard part of the CCM's mandate to develop and promote cinematic culture within the kingdom.
