Jakarta. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said on Thursday that he has not decided on any administrative action after Customs and Excise Director General Djaka Budhi Utama was named in a corruption indictment related to import handling at Indonesian ports.
The minister's statement came after the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named Djaka as a suspect in a case involving alleged bribery and gratification in the import sector. The KPK investigation focuses on irregularities in the clearance of imported goods at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta.
Purbaya emphasized that he is waiting for the legal process to proceed before making any decision on potential sanctions or removal. 'We respect the legal process and will take necessary steps based on the final court ruling,' he said.
The case has raised concerns about governance within the Customs and Excise Directorate, which has faced repeated corruption allegations in recent years. Djaka has not yet commented publicly on the indictment.
