DAVAO CITY (MindaNews / 26 July 2026) β With President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. set to deliver his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 27, a Pulse Asia survey indicates that Filipinos nationwide, including those in Mindanao, are most concerned about corruption and the rising cost of living. The survey, conducted in July 2026, shows that Mindanao's priorities align with national trends on these key issues.
According to the survey, 68% of Mindanao respondents cited the need to address inflation and high prices of goods, while 62% highlighted corruption as a top concern. These figures are consistent with national averages, where 70% of Filipinos listed inflation and 65% listed corruption as urgent issues for the President's address.
However, Mindanao residents also emphasized unique regional priorities. The survey found that 45% of respondents in Mindanao called for improved peace and order, particularly in conflict-affected areas, compared to 30% nationally. Additionally, 40% stressed the importance of agricultural support and rural development, reflecting the region's agrarian economy.
President Marcos is expected to address these concerns in his SONA, with a focus on economic recovery and anti-corruption measures. The Pulse Asia survey, with a margin of error of Β±3%, was based on interviews with 1,200 adults nationwide, including 300 from Mindanao.
