Alberta Health Services (AHS) has issued a public alert for potential measles exposure at Calgary International Airport and several Cold Shot Bus Company terminals across the province. The exposures occurred during multiple time periods between March 10 and March 18, 2026.
The alert states that individuals may have been exposed at the Calgary International Airport's international arrivals area on March 10, and at various Cold Shot bus terminals in Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, and Grande Prairie on specific dates between March 11 and March 18. AHS is advising anyone who was at these locations during the specified times to monitor for symptoms.
Measles is a highly contagious viral infection. Symptoms, which typically appear 7 to 21 days after exposure, include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a red blotchy rash that starts on the face and spreads down the body. Individuals born before 1970 or who have received two doses of measles vaccine are generally considered protected.
AHS urges anyone who develops symptoms to stay home, avoid public spaces, and call Health Link at 811 or a healthcare provider before visiting in person to prevent further spread. This alert follows a confirmed case of measles in an infectious traveller who arrived in Alberta from overseas.
