Marrakech is currently hosting a major international aviation event, reinforcing its role as a hub for air transport cooperation. The 2026 ICAO Air Services Negotiation (ICAN2026) event is taking place from April 14 to 18, 2026, at the Palmeraie Conference Center.
The event, organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), has brought together delegations from states and territories worldwide. Participants are engaging in bilateral and multilateral negotiations to discuss and develop air service agreements, which are crucial for defining the terms of international air travel between countries.
Morocco's Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohamed Abdeljalil, emphasized the importance of such forums for modernizing the global air transport framework and fostering sustainable development in the sector. The choice of Marrakech as the host city underscores Morocco's active role in international aviation diplomacy.
ICAN events are recognized as efficient platforms for states to negotiate multiple agreements simultaneously. The outcomes contribute to expanding air connectivity, which supports tourism, trade, and economic growth on a global scale.
