Maroc Telecom, the leading telecom operator in Morocco, reported strong early results for its 5G network in the first half of 2026. The commercial launch occurred in November 2025, four months after the company obtained its 5G license in July 2025.
According to the operator, mobile data consumption increased significantly during H1 2026, driven by the adoption of 5G services. The company aims to cover 30% of the population by the end of 2026, with a focus on major cities and economic zones.
Maroc Telecom's 5G network uses the 3.5 GHz frequency band, which offers high speeds and low latency. The operator has deployed over 1,000 5G sites across the country as of June 2026.
The positive results come as Morocco prepares to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, with 5G expected to play a key role in digital infrastructure. Maroc Telecom is also working on 5G use cases for industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and agriculture.
