Indera Mahkota MP Saifuddin Abdullah stated that the reassessment of Malaysia's B40, M40, and T20 household income classifications is among the key focuses of the second pillar of the proposed national consensus, known as shared prosperity. The consensus was proposed by Larut MP Hamzah Zainudin.
Speaking on May 15, 2026, Saifuddin emphasized that the review aims to ensure equitable prosperity in Malaysia. The current classifications, based on the Department of Statistics Malaysia's Household Income and Basic Amenities Survey, have been in use for several years and may not reflect current economic realities.
