BRISBANE has continued its strong run toward September, riding a 14-goal second half avalanche to defeat Port Adelaide by 59 points on Sunday at the Gabba.
After a tightly contested first half, the Lions blew the game open with a dominant third quarter, kicking eight goals to two. They added another six goals in the final term to secure a comprehensive victory.
The win keeps Brisbane in contention for a top-two finish on the AFL ladder, with the Lions now sitting third with a 13-5 record. Port Adelaide, meanwhile, remains in fourth place with a 12-6 record.
Key forward Joe Daniher kicked four goals for the Lions, while Lachie Neale collected 35 disposals. For Port Adelaide, Connor Rozee had 28 touches and Zak Butters kicked two goals.
