A new direct air route between Limoges, France, and Oran, Algeria, is set to launch on June 24, 2026, according to a statement from the Limoges airport authority. The service will be operated by the Spanish low-cost carrier Volotea, which has confirmed the route as part of its summer schedule.
The announcement comes after months of discussions between local officials and airline representatives. 'This is a highly anticipated line,' said a spokesperson for Limoges Airport, citing strong demand from the region's Algerian diaspora and business travelers. The flight will operate twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, using an Airbus A319 aircraft with a capacity of 150 passengers.
Limoges Airport director Jean-Pierre Delannoy noted that the route aims to strengthen ties between the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region and Algeria. 'We have seen consistent requests from the community for a direct connection to Oran,' he said in a press release. The flight time is approximately two hours.
Volotea, which already serves several French regional airports, has not disclosed ticket prices but stated that introductory fares will be available from €49 one way. The airline expects the route to be popular during the summer holiday period.
Local tourism officials also welcomed the development, hoping it will boost visitor numbers from Algeria to the Limousin region, known for its medieval villages and gastronomy.
