In a recent interview with IGN, Ken Levine, the creator of BioShock, explained why his upcoming game Judas has been in development for a decade. He stated that the delay was not due to technological challenges but because the team was focused on creating stories that respond to player actions.
Levine described the process as 'kissing many frogs,' indicating that the team explored numerous narrative and gameplay ideas before settling on the final direction. The game is being developed by Ghost Story Games, a studio Levine founded after the closure of Irrational Games.
Judas is a narrative-driven first-person shooter set in a dystopian sci-fi world. Levine emphasized that the core innovation is a system where characters react dynamically to player choices, creating unique story experiences. The game is expected to release in 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
