Malaysia's top political leaders have intensified their campaigns in Johor in the final days before the state election, focusing on undecided voters. According to analysts, this strategy aims to boost turnout among key demographics.
Leaders from major coalitions, including Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional, and Perikatan Nasional, have held rallies across the state. The Johor state election, held on March 12, 2022, saw a voter turnout of 54.92%, according to the Election Commission.
Political analyst Dr. Mazlan Ali from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia noted that the presence of national leaders signals the importance of Johor as a bellwether state. The election is seen as a test of support for the ruling coalition ahead of the next general election.
