JOHOR BAHRU, July 14 ā Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has called for a comprehensive investigation into allegations that Israeli citizens joined a Network School programme in Forest City using passports issued by other countries.
Onn Hafiz stated that the state government takes the matter seriously and urged relevant authorities to conduct a full probe to ascertain the facts. He emphasized that any involvement of Israeli nationals in educational programmes within Johor must be thoroughly examined to ensure compliance with national laws and policies.
The allegations surfaced on social media, prompting public concern. The Network School programme, which operates in Forest City, is an international educational initiative. The Johor government has not yet confirmed the presence of Israeli participants, pending the investigation.
Malaysia does not have diplomatic relations with Israel, and Israeli passport holders are generally barred from entering the country. However, the use of passports from other nations could potentially circumvent this restriction, which is the focus of the probe.
