Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen participated in a live question-and-answer session from space on Saturday, April 4, 2026, as part of the ongoing preparations for NASA's Artemis II mission. The event, hosted by the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), connected Hansen with participants on Earth.
During the virtual call, Hansen described the view of Earth from space as "incredible" and "humbling," emphasizing the planet's fragility. He answered questions about daily life in training and the objectives of the upcoming Artemis II lunar flyby mission.
Artemis II, scheduled for no earlier than September 2025, will be the first crewed mission of the Orion spacecraft, performing a lunar flyby. Jeremy Hansen is set to become the first Canadian to orbit the Moon as a mission specialist on this flight.
The CSA stated that such outreach events aim to inspire the public and students in STEM fields. Hansen's participation occurred from a training facility, as the Artemis II crew is currently in active mission preparation.
