Actress Jane Kaczmarek, who played Lois on the hit sitcom "Malcolm in the Middle," has revealed that a proposed revival of the series offered her former co-star Erik Per Sullivan "buckets of money" to reprise his role as Dewey. Kaczmarek made the comments during an interview on the "And That's What You REALLY Missed" podcast, which was released in early April 2026.
According to Kaczmarek, the revival project, which has been discussed among the original cast, included a substantial financial offer to Sullivan. She stated, "They offered him buckets of money, and he said no." Sullivan, who played the youngest brother Dewey, has largely stepped away from acting since the show ended in 2006.
Kaczmarek expressed that while she and other cast members like Frankie Muniz (Malcolm) and Bryan Cranston (Hal) were interested in revisiting their characters, Sullivan's refusal was a significant hurdle. She noted his decision was respected, describing him as a "lovely person" who has chosen a different path in life.
The status of the potential "Malcolm in the Middle" revival remains uncertain following this revelation. The original series, which aired from 2000 to 2006, remains a cult favorite, but a reunion would require the participation of all key family members.
