FIFA president Gianni Infantino has denied reports that he promised Morocco the final of the 2030 World Cup. The denial came after a meeting in Rabat with Moroccan officials, where local media speculated that Infantino had made such a pledge.
According to a FIFA spokesperson, Infantino's visit was part of routine discussions about the tournament's organization, which will be co-hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal. The spokesperson emphasized that no host city or match allocation has been decided yet.
The 2030 World Cup will be the first to be held across three countries, with matches also planned in Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay to celebrate the tournament's centenary. The final venue is expected to be announced after a formal bidding process for host cities.
Morocco has invested heavily in stadium infrastructure, including the new Hassan II Stadium near Casablanca, which is slated to be one of the largest in the world. However, FIFA has stressed that all decisions will be made through its official channels.
