MANILA, Philippines – The House justice committee reconvenes on Monday, May 4, to vote on a committee report that contains the consolidated impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte.
The panel already voted last week in favor of motions finding probable cause to impeach Duterte over alleged misuse of public funds and other charges. The report consolidates multiple impeachment complaints filed against her.
If the committee approves the report, it will be transmitted to the House plenary for further action. A vote of at least one-third of all House members is required to send the case to the Senate for trial.
Duterte has denied any wrongdoing and called the impeachment proceedings politically motivated. Her allies in the House have vowed to block the report.
