A humanoid robot developed by Chinese tech company Honor has successfully completed a half-marathon. The robot, named 'Lightning,' finished the 21-kilometer course in 48 minutes and 19 seconds during a demonstration event. This time is comparable to a competitive human runner's pace.
The achievement was part of a showcase for Honor's robotics technology. The company stated that the robot utilized a combination of remote control and autonomous navigation capabilities to navigate the course. The event highlighted advancements in robotic endurance, balance, and dynamic movement over long distances.
While the demonstration marks a significant technical milestone, experts note that such robots are still in the development and testing phase. The primary applications for this level of mobility are seen in complex industrial and service scenarios, rather than competitive sports.
