Hervé Renard has been appointed as the new head coach of the Tunisia national football team, the Tunisian Football Federation announced on Tuesday. The French manager will lead the team for the remainder of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Renard replaces Mondher Kebaier, who had been serving as interim coach. The federation's president confirmed the decision, citing Renard's experience in African football, including his previous successes with Zambia and Ivory Coast.
Renard, 53, is known for his tactical acumen and has previously led Zambia to the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations title and Ivory Coast to the 2015 title. He most recently coached the Saudi Arabia national team.
Tunisia is set to face Denmark, Australia, and France in Group D of the World Cup. Renard's immediate task will be to prepare the squad for the tournament, which begins in November.
