Morocco's General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has issued an orange-level warning for a heatwave from Wednesday, July 1, to Friday, July 3, 2026, in several southern provinces. Temperatures are expected to reach 44 to 46 degrees Celsius in Zagora, Tata, Assa-Zag, Boujdour, Es-Semara, Aousserd, and Oued Ed-Dahab.
In addition to the heat, the DGM forecasts thunderstorm showers in other regions during the same period. These storms may bring localized heavy rainfall and gusty winds, particularly in the Atlas Mountains and adjacent areas.
The DGM advises residents and travelers in affected areas to take precautions against extreme heat, including staying hydrated and avoiding direct sun exposure during peak hours. For thunderstorm zones, caution is recommended due to potential flash floods and lightning strikes.
