The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, met with first responders and community members affected by the 2024 Bondi Junction stabbing attack during a visit to Sydney on Thursday. The couple is currently on a multi-day visit to Australia.
The meeting took place at Bondi Beach, near the Westfield Bondi Junction shopping centre where the attack occurred on April 13, 2024. Six people were killed and several others were injured in the incident before the attacker was shot dead by a police officer.
According to a spokesperson, the couple privately thanked emergency service personnel and volunteers, including lifeguards, for their response. They also spoke with local community leaders about the ongoing impact of the tragedy.
The visit was part of the couple's engagements in Australia, which are reportedly connected to their charitable foundation, Archewell. The trip marks a return to a country they visited officially in 2018.
