A ministerial meeting in Riyadh called on Iran to "immediately and unconditionally" halt attacks against Gulf countries, Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday, March 17, 2026. The meeting, hosted by Saudi Arabia, included foreign ministers from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, Jordan, Egypt, and the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The statement condemned what it described as Iran's continued support for armed groups in the region and its attacks on commercial shipping and energy infrastructure. It emphasized the need to preserve maritime security and stability in the Gulf waterways.

The call comes amid heightened regional tensions. The ministers reaffirmed their support for a political solution to regional conflicts and stressed the importance of dialogue to de-escalate the situation, according to the official Saudi Press Agency.
