Google has introduced a new privacy setting called Search Services History, which saves user activity to power advanced AI features. This setting is separate from the standard Web & App Activity and is enabled by default for some users.
According to Google's support documentation, Search Services History collects data such as search queries, voice commands, and interactions with Google services to improve AI models like Search Generative Experience (SGE) and other machine learning tools. Users can review and delete this data from their Google Account's Activity Controls page.
To disable Search Services History, go to myaccount.google.com, navigate to Data & Privacy, then Activity Controls, and toggle off 'Search Services History.' This action will stop future data collection but may affect the performance of some AI features.
Google states that data from this setting is not used for personalized ads and is retained until manually deleted or after a set period, which can be adjusted in the auto-delete options. As of June 2026, no major privacy incidents have been reported related to this feature.
