Google has expanded the capabilities of its Gemini AI assistant on Google TV, allowing users to adjust TV settings using natural language commands. The feature, announced in early 2025, enables voice control over settings such as brightness, volume, and picture mode without navigating menus.
Users can say commands like 'turn down the brightness' or 'switch to movie mode,' and the Gemini AI will interpret and execute the request. This integration aims to simplify the user experience by making TV controls more intuitive.
The feature is available on Google TV devices that support the Gemini assistant, including select Chromecast with Google TV and Google TV-enabled smart TVs. It requires an internet connection and a Google account.
Google has not specified a global rollout date, but the feature is expected to reach more regions throughout 2025 and 2026. The company continues to enhance Gemini's capabilities across its ecosystem.
