The San Francisco Giants have called up Canadian left-handed pitcher Matt Wilkinson to the major league roster, according to multiple reports. The 24-year-old from Ladysmith, British Columbia, was promoted from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday.
Wilkinson, nicknamed "Tugboat," has been one of the Giants' top pitching prospects. In 2025, he posted a 2.45 ERA across Double-A and Triple-A, striking out 142 batters in 118 innings. He was added to the 40-man roster in November 2025.
The lefty is known for his deceptive delivery and a fastball that sits in the low 90s, complemented by a sharp slider. He is expected to provide bullpen depth as the Giants push for a playoff spot.
Wilkinson becomes the latest Canadian to reach the majors, following in the footsteps of fellow British Columbia natives like James Paxton and Tyler O'Neill. He is slated to make his debut in the upcoming series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
