A Cork-based garda has been awarded damages of €90,813 by the High Court for injuries sustained during a violent assault that lasted approximately 10 minutes. The incident occurred while the garda was checking whether a suspect was complying with his bail conditions.

Mr. Justice Paul Coffey, presiding over the case, awarded the total sum of €90,813 to the garda. The award covers damages for pain and suffering, as well as special damages for out-of-pocket expenses and loss of earnings.
