Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, represented King Mohammed VI at the inauguration ceremony of Colombia's new president, Gustavo Petro, on August 7, 2022, in Bogotá.
Upon his arrival, Bourita was received by the Governor of Valle del Cauca, Dilia Francisca Toro, and the Mayor of Santiago de Cali, Álvaro Alejandro Eder, as well as Morocco's Ambassador to Colombia, Farida Loudaya.
The ceremony marked the beginning of Petro's four-year term, making him Colombia's first leftist president. Bourita's attendance underscored the strong diplomatic ties between Morocco and Colombia.
The Moroccan delegation's participation reflects the Kingdom's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Latin American countries, particularly in political, economic, and cultural spheres.
