The Doyet area, located in the Allier department, is a popular stop for families heading south. This year, the overlap of juillettistes (July vacationers returning) and aoûtiens (August vacationers departing) has been managed without major congestion, according to motorway operators. Authorities had anticipated heavy traffic but credited good weather and staggered departures for the fluid situation.
Local businesses at the rest area have benefited from the steady flow of customers. Restaurants and fuel stations reported brisk sales, though no specific figures were available. The smooth conditions contrast with previous years when the same period often saw long delays.
