The series, produced by Fremantle's 72 Films, has been acquired by France Télévisions in France, RAI in Italy, and NPO in the Netherlands, among other European territories.
The documentary is described as a definitive series exploring the life and legacy of the pop icon. It is produced by the Emmy award-winning team at 72 Films, known for other major music documentaries.
Further sales have been confirmed to broadcasters in Denmark (DR), Sweden (SVT), Finland (YLE), Belgium (VRT), and Greece (ERT). The series is also set to air in Australia on Nine Network. The announcement was made by Fremantle's global distribution division.
The sales indicate significant international interest in the project ahead of its completion. Fremantle has not announced a specific global release date for the series.
