French officials have called for a deepening of economic and investment relations with Morocco. The appeal was made during a high-level meeting of the Franco-Moroccan Economic Council (CEF) held in Paris on April 3, 2026, co-chaired by French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade, Franck Riester, and Moroccan Minister of Industry and Commerce, Ryad Mezzour.
The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in key sectors including renewable energy, automotive, aerospace, and agri-food. Both parties emphasized the need to build on the existing partnership, which saw France remain Morocco's leading foreign investor and second-largest trading partner in 2025.
Discussions also addressed improving the business climate and facilitating investment flows between the two nations. The CEF serves as a primary platform for dialogue between French and Moroccan business leaders and government officials, aiming to identify and overcome obstacles to economic collaboration.
