KUALA LUMPUR: An immigration sweep targeting a foreign community in Forest City, Johor, found that all 266 individuals screened possessed valid travel documents, though authorities are continuing investigations to ensure full compliance with Malaysian immigration laws.
The operation, conducted by the Malaysian Immigration Department, focused on verifying the documentation of foreign nationals residing in the Forest City development. According to a statement from the department, the checks were part of routine enforcement activities.
While all 266 individuals cleared the initial screening, the department noted that further probes are underway to check for any potential violations beyond document validity, such as overstaying or working without permits. No arrests were reported during the operation.
Forest City, a large-scale mixed-use development in Johor, has a significant expatriate population. The immigration department has previously conducted similar operations in the area to enforce compliance with national regulations.
