The FBI's New Orleans field office, which played a key role in the investigation of the January 1, 2025 Bourbon Street terrorist attack, is now assisting the New Orleans Police Department in the search for a missing 16-year-old boy, authorities confirmed on July 14, 2026.
The teen, identified as Jayden Thompson, was last seen on July 10, 2026, in the Algiers neighborhood. Police have not released details about possible foul play but have classified the case as a high-risk missing person due to his age and the time elapsed since his disappearance.
FBI spokesperson Sarah Collins said the bureau is providing resources including forensic analysis and digital evidence processing. 'We are leveraging our full capabilities to support NOPD in locating Jayden safely,' Collins stated.
The collaboration marks the latest instance of federal-local cooperation following the Bourbon Street attack, which killed 14 people and injured dozens. The FBI had previously led the investigation into that incident, which involved a vehicle-ramming attack by a suspect inspired by ISIS.
Anyone with information is urged to contact NOPD or the FBI's tip line.
