Avon and Somerset Police have increased patrols in Bristol city centre following a report of a rape in the early hours of last weekend. The force confirmed the incident occurred in Assembly Rooms Lane, near the harbour, at approximately 03:05 GMT on Saturday, March 29.

The victim reported being approached and assaulted by a man in the lane. Police have described the suspect as a white man, approximately 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build, with short dark hair. He was reportedly wearing a dark-coloured hooded top with the hood up, dark trousers, and dark trainers.

Detective Inspector Louise Hopes stated that specially trained officers are supporting the victim. The investigation is ongoing, with officers conducting CCTV enquiries and house-to-house visits in the area. The increased police presence is intended to provide public reassurance while the search for the suspect continues.

Authorities are urging anyone with information, including drivers with dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident, to come forward by calling 101 and quoting reference 5225077506.
