The Cariboo Regional District has issued an evacuation order for more than 100 properties in the Big Bar Lake area due to the out-of-control Fiftynine Creek wildfire. The fire was discovered on Friday, July 17, 2026, and has grown to an estimated 1,500 hectares as of Saturday, July 18, according to the BC Wildfire Service.

The evacuation order covers properties along Big Bar Lake Road, Fiftynine Creek Road, and surrounding areas. Residents have been directed to leave immediately and register at the Emergency Support Services reception centre in Clinton. An evacuation alert is also in place for additional properties in the vicinity.
