One key area is water management. Techniques such as drip irrigation, rainwater harvesting, and the use of treated wastewater for agriculture are widely implemented in North Africa. For instance, Israel and Jordan have pioneered advanced drip irrigation, and Morocco has invested in solar-powered desalination plants. These methods are now being piloted in southern European regions like Spain and Italy, where drought has become a recurring crisis.
Another lesson lies in urban design. North African cities have traditionally used thick-walled buildings, courtyards, and shaded streets to mitigate extreme heat.
