NEW DELHI, May 13: The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has announced plans to automate the process for settling final provident fund withdrawal claims, aiming to fast-track money transfers to members. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve efficiency and reduce processing times.
According to official statements, the automation will cover claims for final settlement, which occur when a member leaves employment and withdraws their entire PF balance. The system is expected to use existing data to verify claims automatically, minimizing manual intervention.
EPFO has not yet specified a launch date for the fully automated system, but the move aligns with its broader digital transformation agenda. Currently, final claims often require employer verification and manual checks, leading to delays.
The organization manages over 60 million active members and processes millions of claims annually. Automation is expected to benefit workers by ensuring quicker access to their retirement savings upon leaving a job.
