KUALA LUMPUR: The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has announced the closure of all over-the-counter contribution payment counters at its branches nationwide, effective from a date yet to be confirmed. The move is part of a digital transformation initiative to encourage members and employers to use online payment channels.
According to an EPF statement, the decision affects all 36 EPF branches across Malaysia. Members and employers will be required to make contributions via the i-Akaun portal, FPX, or other authorized digital platforms. The EPF stated that this change aims to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
EPF emphasized that the closure of counters does not affect other services, such as withdrawal applications or inquiries, which will still be available at branches. The organization also assured that assistance will be provided to those unfamiliar with digital payments, including guidance at branches and a dedicated helpline.
This move follows a trend among Malaysian government agencies to digitize services, with EPF reporting that over 90% of contributions are already made online. The EPF urged all members to register for i-Akaun to ensure a smooth transition.
