A road rage incident in Emmarentia, Johannesburg, turned fatal on Monday, 20 April 2026, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old man. According to police reports and witness accounts, a minor collision between two vehicles escalated into a physical altercation.
Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed that the altercation between the two male drivers led to one of them allegedly producing a firearm and shooting the other. The victim was declared dead at the scene. The suspect, a 40-year-old man, was arrested shortly afterwards and is expected to appear in court on charges of murder.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene where the initial argument over the bumper-bashing accident quickly turned into a fistfight. The confrontation reportedly occurred in front of two young children who were passengers in one of the vehicles. Police have appealed for any additional witnesses to come forward.
