The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have submitted a formal request to the Speaker of the National Assembly for a motion of no confidence debate against Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development Minister Thoko Didiza. The move, confirmed by EFF Chief Whip Floyd Shivambu, comes amid allegations of maladministration and failure to address land reform issues.
According to parliamentary procedure, the Speaker must consider the request and decide whether to schedule the debate. The EFF has cited the minister's handling of the Land Reform Programme and delays in finalizing the Expropriation Bill as key reasons for the motion.
Minister Didiza's office has not yet responded to the request. The African National Congress (ANC) has not indicated its position on the matter. The motion requires a simple majority in the National Assembly to pass.
