MANILA, Philippines – The pre-trial conference for Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment case entered its second day of discussions on Monday, June 22, 2026. The House of Representatives prosecution panel and Duterte’s defense team are expected to continue presenting preliminary motions and evidence before the Senate impeachment court.
On the first day, the prosecution submitted its formal offer of evidence, including documents and testimonies related to allegations of betrayal of public trust and corruption. The defense has indicated it will challenge the admissibility of certain pieces of evidence.
The pre-trial is being presided over by Senate President Francis Escudero, who has set a schedule for the presentation of witnesses and the cross-examination phase. No date has been set for the start of the trial proper.
Duterte, who has denied all charges, remains in office while the proceedings continue. The impeachment case stems from a complaint filed by a group of lawmakers in 2025, citing alleged misuse of public funds and abuse of power.
