The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) issued closure orders to several food businesses last month, including a popular Dublin restaurant, after inspectors discovered a "significant" cockroach infestation and a toilet "overflowing with human waste."
The FSAI, which enforces food safety laws in Ireland, said the closure orders were served following routine inspections. The restaurant, which has not been named in the FSAI's public notice, was ordered to close immediately until the issues were resolved.
According to the FSAI's monthly report, inspectors found cockroaches breeding in the kitchen area and a toilet that was overflowing, posing a serious health risk. The restaurant was allowed to reopen only after it passed a follow-up inspection.
