Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir has confirmed that a veteran defender will return for the AFL Grand Final against Geelong on Saturday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The decision comes after the player proved his fitness during training this week.
The defender, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since late August, completed a full session on Thursday and was cleared by the club's medical staff. His inclusion is a significant boost for the Dockers as they aim to contain Geelong's potent forward line.
Longmuir said the veteran's experience and leadership will be crucial on the biggest stage. "He's a proven performer in big games and his presence will settle the backline," Longmuir told reporters on Friday.
Fremantle will be seeking their first premiership since 2013, while Geelong are aiming for their first flag since 2022. The match is expected to draw a crowd of over 100,000 at the MCG.
