Onome Didih of Nigeria won the gold medal in the women's 53kg weightlifting event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, according to reports. She set a new Commonwealth Games record in the snatch with a lift of 93kg.
Didih also broke the record in the clean and jerk, finishing with a total of 203kg, which is also a new Games record. Her performance was described as dominant, securing the top spot on the podium.
The silver medal went to India's Bindyarani Devi, while Canada's Rachel Leblanc-Bazinet took bronze. The event took place at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow.
