The Moroccan women's national football team, known as the Lionesses of the Atlas, resumed training on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora. The session came one day after their opening match in the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), hosted by Morocco.
On Sunday, July 26, Morocco defeated Kenya 5-0 in their Group A opener. The match was played at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. The result puts Morocco in a strong position in the group stage.
The team, led by captain Zineb Redouani, is aiming to build on their performance in the 2022 WAFCON, where they reached the final. The 2026 tournament features 12 teams competing for the African title and qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.
