Dakhla Airport in southern Morocco recorded a 12.3% increase in passenger traffic during the first quarter of 2026, compared to the same period in 2025, according to data from the National Airports Office (ONDA). The airport handled a total of 123,456 passengers from January to March 2026.
The growth is attributed to expanded flight schedules and increased tourism to the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, known for its kitesurfing and wind sports. Domestic routes, particularly from Casablanca and Agadir, contributed significantly to the rise.
International traffic also saw a boost, with new seasonal flights from European cities. ONDA officials noted that the airport's infrastructure upgrades, completed in 2025, have improved capacity and passenger experience.
The positive trend aligns with Morocco's national strategy to develop regional airports and promote tourism in the Sahara provinces. Dakhla Airport is expected to continue its growth trajectory in the coming quarters.
