The Czech Republic has voiced support for Morocco's autonomy plan for the disputed Western Sahara region, according to a joint statement following high-level talks. The declaration was made during a visit by Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala to Rabat on March 24, 2026, where he met with Moroccan Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch.

The joint communiqué highlighted the Czech Republic's view of the Moroccan autonomy initiative as a "serious and credible" effort to resolve the long-standing conflict. This position aligns Morocco with a growing number of European nations that have endorsed its plan for the territory.

Beyond the Sahara issue, the two countries agreed to strengthen cooperation in several sectors, including energy, trade, and security. Officials signed multiple agreements aimed at boosting economic partnership and political dialogue, signaling a consolidation of strategic relations.

The Western Sahara dispute remains a central pillar of Moroccan diplomacy. Morocco controls most of the territory and proposes autonomy under its sovereignty, while the Polisario Front demands an independent state. The United Nations continues to seek a negotiated political solution.
