PETALING JAYA: The door remains open for Lee Zii Jia to return to the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), according to BAM high performance committee director Datuk Seri Lee Chong Wei.

Speaking to reporters on May 2, 2026, Chong Wei stated that the offer has always been there for Zii Jia, who left the national team in 2022 to pursue an independent career. However, Chong Wei emphasized that no formal discussions have taken place and that any decision would be up to Zii Jia.

Zii Jia, currently ranked No. 8 in the world, has not indicated any desire to rejoin BAM. The association continues to support its current players while keeping the option open for his return.
