Police have launched a homicide investigation after a child was found dead in a home in Lowood, approximately 66 kilometers west of Brisbane, late Monday night.
Emergency services were called to the residence shortly after 11:00 PM on May 25, 2026, where they discovered the child unresponsive. The child was declared deceased at the scene.
A woman is currently speaking with police and assisting with inquiries. No charges have been laid at this stage, and investigations are ongoing.
Detectives from the Ipswich Child Protection and Investigation Unit are leading the investigation. Police have not released the child's age or gender, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
