The Montreal Canadiens return home to the Bell Centre with their first-round playoff series against the Tampa Bay Lightning tied 1-1. After a 5-2 loss in Game 2, head coach Martin St. Louis is looking for a response from his top players, particularly the line centered by Nick Suzuki.
"We've got to be better," Suzuki said following the Game 2 defeat. "We know what we need to do. It's about executing and being harder on pucks." The series shifts to Montreal for Games 3 and 4, where St. Louis will have the advantage of making the last line change to create favourable matchups.
Potential lineup changes are under consideration. Defenseman Kaiden Guhle, who missed Game 2, is considered day-to-day. His status for Game 3 remains uncertain, which could lead to adjustments on the blue line. Forward Tanner Pearson, a healthy scratch for the first two games, is also an option to inject experience into the lineup.
The Lightning, the Eastern Conference's second wild-card team, demonstrated their playoff pedigree in Game 2. The Canadiens will need improved defensive structure and more offensive pressure from their top lines to regain control of the series on home ice. Puck drop for Game 3 is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET at the Bell Centre.
